 BSNL EVDO card provides customers with access the High speed wireless broadband service across India. Users can access the Internet with surfing speed of up to 144 kbps with the BSNL NIC (Network Interface Card) and up to 2.4 Mbps with the EVDO (Evolution-Data Optimized) card.
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has a promotional offer on its CDMA Data Services, the NIC and EVDO cards which costs Rs. 2,500 and Rs 3,500 respectively will be sold at Rs.1,680 and Rs. 2,100 respectively for limited period. Offer valid till stock lasts or up to 9th September 2009, whichever is earlier. [source]
BSNL currently offers unlimited data access to both NIC and EVDO card users for a fixed monthly rental of Rs. 250 and Rs 550 respectively. However from July 1, 2009 the monthly charges will be revised to Rs. 350 and Rs. 600 respectively.
BSNL has also enabled roaming facility on its CDMA Data Services. The EVDO was launched unofficially back in September 2007 by BSNL and now, after the establishing better EVDO network.
The official name of EVDO, defined by the Telecommunication Industry Association, is “CDMA2000, High Rate Packet Data Air Interface”. It is one of two major Third Generation (3G) wireless standards.
Check with your local BSNL Customer service and BSNL franchisee to find out if EVDO broadband is available in your city. I have been using the service for sometime and very happy with the performance.
